Enter Prichard Alabama as the city and see the help they will be receiving. They want to revitalize their city. I remember when they closed the main street to make a mall in the center of town. That didn't work to attract people. It wasn't long before they opened the street back up. What are they going to try, now?

in all fairness to prichard, they tried that in several cities closing off the main street downtown, and it didint work and they eventually reopened the streets. biloxi is the one i remember, vue marche mall. problem was the property had been all boght up for cheap when they announced it, and they charged super high rents, (There's those busniess folks again, trying to make money without actually doing anything) the businesses that did locate there never did figure out thier niche, and its now a deserted street of office space and sandwich shops. and very unsafe after hours. (The hospital is there.

i had a real smart little spunky black cashier one time, i really liked her, i told her i thought they should fix pritchard up she told me in other words it would not do any good ;D like the people were the problems not the buildings. she lived in happy hill and was one tough little cookie.

I love going to Prichard to see patients-most of them are so thankful. But....I do see a lot of folks that are problems. I am happy they got better housing, like in the old Bessemer, but the pessimistic side of me wonders how long until it is trashed like it was before, or like Alabama Village is now. I think a lot of it depends on your personal ethics. If you don't care, it will show. With the Village example, most of the homes there are just run down trash, but there are a few, that you can tell the people really take pride in trying to maintain and make nice looking.
